Flangar Ltd., (including its affiliates, agents, representatives, consultants, employees, officers, and directors, collectively, “Flangar,” “we,” “us”, or “our”) provides a crowdfunding platform through its website https://www.flangar.com. Flangar’s crowdfunding platform provides services that help creative and performing artists as well as arts service organizations raise funds for projects, events or causes (together our “Services”). We are a Limited Liability Company based in Accra, Ghana.
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) governs how we collect, use, share and protect information collected in the offering of our Services. We advise that users of our platform carefully review this Policy before submitting any information through or in connection with the Services. By using any part of the Services, you acknowledge the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Policy.
1. Explanation of Terms:
a) Creators: These are third-party individuals, groups, or organizations who run projects or campaigns on the Flangar platform.
b) Backers: Backers are Flangar’s users or third parties who give financial donations to help bring projects to life.
2. Information We Collect
When you use or access the Services, we collect information in multiple ways, including: when you provide information directly to us, and when we passively collect information from your browser or device (e.g., by logging how you interact with our Services).
- When you provide information directly to us by setting up an account;
- We collect information from you passively (from your browser or device); and
- From third parties (such as Flangar’s trusted-payment provider)
In order for you to create an account on Flangar and use our Services, we need to collect and process certain information. These information may include:
a) Information you provide by creating an account and (or) completing forms on Flangar: we collect your name, email and postal addresses, telephone number, country of residence, login, password details, and any information you choose to provide us (for example a profile picture).
b) Information you choose to provide us for identity verification purposes when creating or launching a project: this includes your legal name, business name and Tax ID for organizations, and date of birth. In some cases, our payment processor will request that you provide a secure upload of an identity document (such as your national identification card number, passport, drivers license or other government-issued ID) to Flangar;
c) Information about your activity on and interaction with Flangar (such as your IP address, the type of device or browser you use, and your actions on Flangar);
d) Information about the ways people visit and interact with our Site, in the form of traffic analytics. This includes Google Analytics, Google Maps, and Meta Pixel. For more information about our use of data analytics to protect and improve our Services, see our Cookie Policy;
e) Information about requests or transactions you make through the Service: We partner with third party companies (such as IT Consortium) for payment processing, and the payment information you submit may be collected and used by them in accordance with their privacy policies (refer to the privacy policy of IT Consortium). Flangar does not store your payment information. Our payment processors collect your credit card details, mobile money account details, and other information necessary to process the donation such as your home address.
f) When you are the creator or the recipient of funds from a project, we collect your contact details (such as name and email address), zip code, country, your phone number (for purposes of multi-factor authentication and to send you important messages) and any information you choose to provide us. Our payment processors collect your bank details as well as other information necessary to set up the withdrawals.
g) You may comment, make contributions to discussions or send messages to other users on our Platform. Any information that you choose to submit on or to Flangar’s platform including such comments, discussions, messages, and reviews is available to us and to the general public for use and sharing. Please ensure that you do not share personal information to the public unless you intend for such information to be for public use and share. We reserve the right to monitor and review such public information and to remove postings or comments that do not comply with our Community Guidelines.
h) Flangar uses third-party services for identity verification and fraud prevention purposes. These biometric information services may collect a copy of your government-issued ID (i.e., national identification card, passport, or driver’s license) and a scan of the picture on your government-issued ID for identification purposes. Flangar does not retain any biometric information, all biometric information is maintained by third-party services (processors) performing the services. By sharing your information with these biometric information services, you consent to the collection, processing, sharing and storage of your biometric information for identity verification and fraud prevention purposes. Your biometric information will be retained by our processors for as long as necessary for identity verification and fraud prevention and in accordance with applicable law and this Policy.
i) Demographic information—such as your age, sex, race, and ethnicity—that you have the option to provide the processing of those personal data in order to help Flangar equitably support all creators and represent a diverse population in our research.
j) Information necessary for the use of Google Maps features and content for the purposes of tax collection.
k) Your communications to Flangar (for example, when you ask for support, send us questions or comments, or report a problem);
You may decline to provide us with your information. However, this will limit your ability to register for an account or use our Services. You may pledge to a project as a guest by providing only an email address. However, to adjust your pledge, save payment details for future pledges, make project comments and take most other actions on our Site, you will need to finish creating an account. You may review, change or remove your information through your account settings.
3. How We Use Your Information
Flangar uses the information collected from your use of the Services in accordance with this Policy. There are certain circumstances in which Flangar may share your information. The circumstances in which Flangar may share your information are as follows:
a) Service Providers: We may share your information with third parties who perform services on our behalf. This includes, but is not limited to recruitment, marketing, customer support, legal services, data storage, data analysis and processing.
b) Affiliates: We may share your information with current or future affiliated companies, including but not limited to business transactions, such as corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisitions, reorganization, or other disposition of all or any portion of the business or assets of, or equity interests in, or our affiliates (including in connection with a bankruptcy or similar proceeding)
c) Aggregated or De-identified Information: To personalize your experience, we may share de-identified and/or aggregated data to third parties, including advertisers, promotional partners, and/or others.
d) Consent: Flangar may share your information with any third parties based on your consent to do so.
4. Information Shared Publicly
When you create an account, we create a basic profile page for you on Flangar, containing your username, the date the account was created, and a list of projects you have backed or launched. By default, your profile is public for purposes of platform transparency and trust. The following information will be seen by other users on the Platform:
a) The account username you select, and the date the account was created;
b) Any information you choose to add to your profile (like a picture, bio, your location, website(s) added);
c) Projects you’ve backed (but not amounts given or rewards chosen);
d) Projects you’ve created;
e) Comments you’ve posted on Flangar; and
f) If you have “Liked” a project update.
Creators are asked to verify their identities before launching a project. Once this has been done, the creator’s Verified Name will be publicly displayed on their account profile and on any projects they launch. When a backer gives to a project, the creator will receive information about the backer, including things like name and amount given. If the project is successful, creators receive limited backer information, such as an email address. This allows creators to send out a custom survey to obtain a postal address to help mail rewards the backer requested.
5. Information Shared with Trusted Third-party Services.
We may share your information with certain trusted third-party services to help us provide, improve, promote, or protect Flangar’s Services (like when we partner with payment processors, or use services that help us manage our ads on other sites).We may also share information that’s aggregated and encrypted in a way that it doesn’t directly identify you.
6. Information Shared with Creators
Creators are central to Flangar’s Services as they provide the projects that drive our mission. Given that responsibility, creators are bound by this Privacy Policy and shall not sell or share any information except for reward fulfillment purposes. Flangar reserves the right to take disciplinary action(s), including suspension, against any creator who is found to be in violation of the requirements set out in this Policy.
7. How You Share Information with Creators
When you back a project, the project’s creator will know your username, the amount you have gave, mailing address for reward fulfillment, and the reward you have selected. Creators do not receive backers’ credit card details or other payment information.
Creators are required to keep backer information confidential, except as strictly necessary to communicate with backers directly and fulfill rewards. Creators should not ask for personal information that isn’t necessary to provide your reward, and should never request sensitive personal information that is not necessary to fulfill your rewards such as your Social Security number or payment information. Contact us at support@flangar.com if you receive a request for information that seems inappropriate or excessive.
8. Information We Share to Protect Flangar and Comply with the Law
Flangar reserves the right to disclose personal information when we believe that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or law enforcement, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect Flangar’s legal rights, property, or the safety of Flangar, its employees, users, or others.
9. Third-party Websites and Services
Our Site may include links to other websites or services whose privacy practices may differ from Flangar’s. When you use a link to an external site or service, you are operating under the privacy policy of that website or service.
You may decline to provide us with your information. However, this will limit your ability to register for an account or use our Services. You may pledge to a project as a guest by providing only an email address. However, to adjust your pledge, save payment details for future pledges, make project comments and take most other actions on our Site, you will need to finish creating an account. You may review, change or remove your information through your account settings.
10. Your Rights
While these rights are not applicable globally, all Flangar users can manage their personal information in their account settings. You have the right to request a downloadable copy of your personal data from Flangar from your account settings page. To modify or delete the personal information you’ve provided to us, please log in and update your profile. You may also delete your account from your account settings page or by sending us an Account Delete Request via support@flangar.com. We may retain certain information as required by law.
11. Categories of Personal Information we Collect
Throughout this Policy, we discuss in detail the specific pieces of personal information we collect from and about users. We are also required to provide you with the “categories” of personal information we collect. The categories, and some examples of what we may collect, are:
a) Identifiers and contact or registration information, e.g., your name, date of birth, email address, postal address, telephone number, country of residence, wireless device identifier, account username and password, and government-issued ID (US state-issued or the country-issued ID, passport number, etc.)
b) Statistical information, e.g., marital status, education, professional or employment-related information, interests, lifestyle information, and hobbies.
c) Commercial and financial information, e.g., business name; tax identification numbers; transaction history, expiration date, and last four digits of credit/debit card number; and transaction history, country of, and last four digits of bank account.
d) User-generated content, e.g., photos, videos, audio, any information you submit in public forums or message boards, and feedback or testimonials you provide about our Services.
e) Customer service information, e.g., questions and other messages you address to us directly through online forms, by email, over the phone, or by post; and summaries of your interactions with the Flangar Support Team.
f) Device information and device identifiers, e.g., IP address; browser type and language; operating system; platform type; device type; software and hardware attributes; and unique device, advertising, and app identifiers
g) Connection and usage data, e.g., information about files you download, domain names, landing pages, browsing activity, content or ads viewed and clicked, dates and times of access, pages viewed, forms you complete or partially complete, search terms, uploads or downloads, whether you open an email and your interaction with email content, access times, error logs, and other similar information
h) Other Information, e.g., any other information you choose to directly provide to us in connection with your use of the Services
Certain laws permit you or an authorized agent on your behalf to make certain requests about your personal information. Where applicable law provides, an agent may request the following on your behalf:
a) Information about the categories of personal information we collect or disclose about you; the categories of sources of such information; the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal information; the categories of third parties with whom we share/disclose personal information. Such information is also set forth in this Policy.
b) Access to and/or a copy of certain information we hold about you.
c) Deletion of certain information we have about you.
d) Correction of inaccurate personal information we have about you.
e) Information about the financial incentives (like benefits or payments) that we offer to you if any.
Please note that certain information may be exempt from such requests. For example, we need certain information in order to provide the Services to you. We also will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding to a request. You are also permitted to designate an authorized agent to subject certain requests on your behalf. To verify that your agent has been authorized to make a request on your behalf, we may require them to provide us with a signed written authorization or a copy of a power of attorney.
12. Retension of Information
We will retain your information as long as your account is active, as necessary to provide you with the Services. We will also retain and use this information as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy and to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect Flangar’s legal rights.
We also collect and maintain aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information which we may retain indefinitely to protect the safety and security of our Site, improve our Services or comply with legal obligations.
13. Data Storage and Transfers
As part of our service provision, we may rely on third-party servers, databases co-located with hosting providers, resident in foreign jurisdictions, which constitutes the transfer of your Personal Data to computers or servers in foreign countries. We take steps designed to ensure that the data we collect under this Privacy Policy is processed and protected according to the provisions of this Policy and the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) (the “Act”) wherever the data is located.
Where Personal Data is to be transferred outside Ghana, Flangar shall put adequate measures in place to ensure the security of such Personal Data. Any transfer of Personal Data out of Ghana will be in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
Flangar is a Ghanaian company, and as such your information will be collected and processed in Ghana according to provisions of this Policy and the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). The laws that protect your personal information in Ghana States may be different from the data protection laws in your home country. By providing us with your information, you acknowledge any such transfer or use.
Should you wish to transfer Personal Data to a country deemed to have inadequate data protection laws, Paystack will take all necessary steps to ensure that informed consent is obtained from you, and you are aware of the risks entailed with such transfer. In any instance, Paystack will ensure Personal Data is transmitted in a safe and secure manner. Details of the protection given when your Personal Data is transferred abroad, and details of the basis of such transfers shall be provided to you upon request.
14. Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies
We collect data about Site usage through our own server logs or through other types of tracking technology. Our own server logs is usually a log file where server activity is stored. Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit a website. These text files are then processed and stored by your web browser and that store information about your use of Flangar’s Services. Pixel tags (which are also called clear GIFs, web beacons, or pixels) are little snippets of code or tiny images embedded on websites and in email that help us learn how you interact with our site and emails.
Some tracking is necessary to make the Flangar Site function properly. These technologies also support security, analytics and an improved user experience.
Depending on your browser and settings, you may be able to accept or decline cookies. However, it must be noted that blocking or deleting cookies may affect your user experience on the Platform.

15. Email and Mobile Notifications
We will only communicate with you if you choose to hear from us. We make diligent efforts to keep our emails to a minimum and manage any marketing notifications we send.
Flangar will send you an email relating to your transactions on Flangar. You may also elect to receive certain marketing email communications, in accordance with your preferences, and from which you may opt out at any time by adjusting your notification settings or through a link in the email that allows you to unsubscribe from such emails.
16. How We Protect Your Personal Data
We prioritize the security of your personal data. We adopt industry best practices to protect the data we collect and maintain, including using SSL to encrypt information as it travels over the internet. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so Flangar cannot guarantee its absolute security. Your account information is protected by a password, which you should choose carefully and keep secure. We encourage all users to enable two-factor authentication in account settings to further protect their account.
We encourage the responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities of our Services by emailing security@flangar.com, and we will invite valid disclosures to our developer partner programs.
17. Children
People under 18 (or the legal age in your jurisdiction) are not permitted to use Flangar on their own. Flangar does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 16 and children under 16 are not permitted to register for an account or use our Services.
If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at dpo@flangar.com. If we become aware that a child under age 16 has provided us with personally identifiable information, we’ll delete it.
